Robbie set to pen autobiography with Random House
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Rocker Robbie Robertson is about to add “author” to his lengthy list of professional activities.
The former frontman for The Band said he will start penning his memoirs in a few months following a couple of aborted attempts with ghost writers. The Canadian rocker hopes the book will come out within two years through Random House.
“I’m very excited about doing it,” Robertson told Reuters, while getting ready for the April 5 release of his first solo album in 13 years. “I just have to roll up my sleeves, get a cabin in the woods and do it properly.”

It is so great to hear a new album. Your music and voice is needed in this world. I hope someday to hear you perform. I will fly anywhere to hear you so please publish your next concert. My biggest dream and most come true is to do an acoustic jam with you. I hope our paths cross and I can thank you personally.
For now I hope I see you on the road, and thank you for your words, your music, and your inspiration to all us musicians.

Hi Robbie – I almost met you back in 1984. A chilly March afternoon in Beverly Hills at the Mandarin. You walked in with your publicist for lunch. I was there with my wife on our honeymoon. Except for us the place was empty. The Mandarin has/had the best Lemon Chicken. I just about wet my pants knowing who you were. You guys sat down right next to our table. I was in the business at the time working for WEA, we had your first album with Geffen. You are one of my all time hero’s and the new album is just amazing. Thank you for a lifetime of just plain wonderful music. “Sign of the Rainbow” has a special place in my heart. I didn’t want to bother you that day, I always felt artists should have their privacy. I love you man, keep makin’ music.

Now with the new album, it is a perfect opportunity to perform again. Don’t think of it as a ‘tour’ but a small collection of relaxed performances at intimate venues. We all miss you. Also, it would be criminal not to allow the next generation the opportunity to experience you live.

Wow … Great web site..We all loved The Band and Robbie’s solo career music, but I had no idea about all the film collaborations and other projects. The Order Of Canada was definately in order.I recently saw the interview on CBC with Peter Mansbridge and was captivated for two reasons.First because I had heard a book was in the making and thought it had already been published and I wanted to learn more.I found out today at Chapters that this in fact was not the case.So I will have to wait for the release..And the second reason was because my son has recently become engaged to a young artist who hails from “Sixth Nations”Brantford, where Robbie spent many seasons no doubt.I was particularily interested in Robbie’s memoirs and his aboriginal roots, experiences and music that was influenced by his Mohawk heritage. The Mohawk Nation is about to become a large and exciting part of my life.Wish Robbie could come to my small and intimate Performing Arts Centre, west of Toronto so I could treat “thekids”to an evening with Robbie Robertson…Cheers
